The principle of this offer: the passenger chooses the date of their trip, but only knows the timetable of their train two days before.

For many travelers, the question now arises. Yes to take the train, but at what cost? A problem that is all the more serious for the Eurostar -London line. It is not uncommon to have to pay more than €200 for a round trip during busy periods. But for some customers, that could soon be a bad memory. This Thursday, the railway company is relaunching its Snap platform, offered between 2016 and 2019. “With Snap, Eurostar is making a simple promise: travelers choose their date, we choose the time, and they can get up to 50% off the price of certain vacant Eurostar seats, ensuring that no seats are available. ‘is lost’announces François Le Doze, commercial director of Eurostar, in a press release. This platform is based on the same principle as for its offer launched this summer for the Paris-Brussels and Brussels-London connections.

The only condition: passengers must be very flexible. They only receive their travel details 48 hours before departure. And unlike the first version of the platform developed in the 2010s, there is no choice between a morning or afternoon departure. The latter can take place at any time during the day. The prize is discounted tickets in Standard class. For a Paris-London, Friday October 25 (simulation made on October 16), the price displayed is 60 pounds sterling (approx. €72) on the British version of the Snap platform, available from October 15. For comparison, on the 16 journeys planned that day, full-price Standard tickets are offered between 164 and 189 pounds sterling on the British Eurostar website, and between 189 and 218 € on the French version.

Neither exchangeable nor refundable

And good news for travelers: the platform offers tickets for the main Eurostar destinations, namely Paris, London, Amsterdam, Brussels and Cologne. To access it, you must go to the website snap.eurostar.com. Tickets are available up to two weeks in advance to and from London, and eight days in advance for other cities. A significant detail: the ticket, once purchased, is neither exchangeable nor refundable. However, Snap travel allows you to accumulate Club Eurostar points, which can be used to obtain discounts or other benefits. For Eurostar, the objective is clearly stated: to fill the least busy trains of the day.

This summer, the company had already launched the Lastminutedeals platform, allowing you to pay two to three times less for your trip. However, the offer did not apply to the Paris-London route.
