The Confederation of African (CAF) has designated Morocco as the host country for the African Women’s Cup of Nations in 2026.

The exact dates and locations of the competition have not been specified.

Morocco, the center of women’s football, organized the last edition, between July 2 and 23, 2022 in Rabat and Casablanca. She was then overcome by South Africa, who beat Morocco in the final (1-2).

The Atlas Lionesses particularly stood out, captain Ghizlane Chebbak finishing top scorer (3 goals) and best player, while Fatima Tagnaout finished top passer with 3 assists.

Morocco must also host the next edition, that of 2024, between July 5 and 26, 2025. The Lionesses of the Atlas will thus mark their 4th participation and are now assured of a 5th.

The organization of the 2026 edition is of great importance since it will qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup organized by Brazil. Africa having 4 to 6 places during this edition of 32 teams.
