The Bel cheese factory in Sablé-sur- will recruit more than 300 people

The Bel cheese factory in Sablé-sur-, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this yearhas several challenges to face in terms of recruitment in the years to come. The first is to replace half of its workforce, who will retire by 2030. This work began in 2020, representing more than 300 people in total. “This makes for fairly significant recruitment. Between 30 and 50 people to recruit every year”, explains Joël Geslin, director of theBel factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthefor a year.

Anticipate as much as possible

To meet this “big challenge”, the company has decided to anticipate, in order to guarantee its production capacity, but not only that. “We must guarantee the right level of skills of our employees to meet needs. These are quite complex processes, and we must trainon the ground, our employees”, continues Joël Geslin.

New requests

At the same time, Bel must meet a second challenge: recruiting around fifty people before January 2025.This is linked to a specific request. From January, we want to create weekend teams, to meet the very high demand for Mini Babybel, particularly from the United States.“, specifies the director of the Bel factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Between 45 and 50 people are sought for this specific position, in order to intensify the production of Mini Babybel.

Beautiful in numbers

The Bel factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthe has existed since 1964, it covers 12 hectares. Inside, employees produce more 41,000 tonnes of cheese per yeartwo thirds of which are from the Kiri brand, which works very well in Asia. The Babybel, Cantadou, Boursin, Cousteron and Port Salut brands are also produced in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Bel exports 55% of its production to 70 countries. The company works with 700 milk producers and employs around 640 people.
