“We combine the efficiency of automation with personal contact”

An innovative player who favors personal contact. This is how Ferhat Akgündüz and Guyon Gelaudemans describe Declarants, a new generation customs agent. They established the company in 2022 and have already welcomed many customers thanks to their experience and network in the fruit and vegetable sector. Declarants has its offices in De Lier: “A strategically chosen location,” begins Akgündüz. “The proximity to the port of Rotterdam and important road arteries make De Lier an ideal location for us. In addition, here we have the logistical advantages we need to provide our customers with tailor-made solutions. »

A global solution for import, export, transport and customs formalities
How Declarants accomplishes this task quickly becomes apparent. “Declarants is the point of departure and arrival in terms of import and export of goods, transportation – by road or by air or sea freight, including appropriate customs documentation. We offer our customers a hassle-free, comprehensive solution with a single point of contact to meet all their needs. Our goal is to make processes as simple and transparent as possible, so that our customers can concentrate on their core business. »

“Automation allows us to speed up these processes and minimize errors,” adds Gelaudemans. “We believe that this automation not only brings efficiency, but also increases customer satisfaction. It allows us to proactively provide customers with the right information, respond to questions quickly and react even faster to unforeseen circumstances. This last point, in particular, is essential in logistics processes, for example with regard to fresh produce. »

While process automation helps Declarants to serve its customers optimally, Akgündüz and Gelaudemans are convinced that it is precisely the human factor within the company that makes the difference. According to Akgündüz: “What makes Declarants special is that we combine the efficiency of automation with personal contact. We want our customers to feel heard and like their issues are receiving the attention and priority they deserve. »

“This is our daily task, of course, but we also attend, for example, annual trade fairs such as Fruit Logistica in Berlin and Fruit Attraction in Madrid to meet our contacts. Interaction with existing and potential customers at these fairs is very valuable for us. It not only allows us to maintain our international relationships, but also to improve our services and keep up to date with the latest trends and developments.”

The continuous improvement of this service is in any case one of Declarants’ priorities. Gelaudemans concludes: “Of course we have ambitious plans for the future. One of the most exciting developments for us is the use of artificial intelligence to recognize patterns and make predictions, allowing us to act proactively. However, whatever tools we deploy, it is important that we keep in mind that our services should be focused on serving our relationships in the best possible way. With a clear vision, a focus on personal contact with the customer and the future integration of AI technologies, we are convinced that we have a bright future ahead of us. »
