From 2025, technical inspection will undergo significant development. Don’t worry, we’ll explain everything to you!
The technical inspection is a compulsory examination for all cars, every two years.
An evolution for technical control
The latter ensures that vehicles, and now also two wheels, are in good condition to take to the road and that they also comply with the standards in force. Particularly with regard to pollution. But now from January 1, 2025new regulations will strengthen the technical inspection of vehicles in France. This initiative aims to fight more effectively against fraud linked to polluting emissions and to improve road safety. But then, what should we expect for next year? Don’t worry, we’ll tell you everything about it! The main objective of this reform is to fight against technical fraud and manipulation of anti-pollution systems, which represent a danger both for the environment and for public health. Indeed, in recent years, numerous cases of illegal modifications have been identified, such as the dismantling of particle filters or the handling of catalysts.
A new rule
These devices, although essential to limit harmful gas emissionsare sometimes tampered with to improve vehicle performance or circumvent environmental standards. Concretely, technical inspection centers will now be equipped with more efficient tools to detect these modifications. More sophisticated diagnostic devices will make it possible to identify manipulations of engines and emissions systems, including failures that have until now flown under the radar of conventional checks. The technical control reform will not be limited to polluting emissions alone. Indeed, additional measures regarding vehicle safety will also be put in place. Thus, vehicles presenting serious failures in the brakes, suspensions or restraint devices, such as seat belts, will be more systematically rejected. For motorists, this new regulation could then mean an increase in the cost of technical inspections.
But for now, nothing has yet been announced regarding the new price of this operation.
