After a pilot phase in Germany and Austria, Zalando’s GenAI assistant is available in 25 countries. The tool offers personalized suggestions based on customer needs.

Zalando’s smart assistant, first tested in Germany and Austria, is now available to connected users in 25 countries, in their local language, announces the online store specializing in clothing and shoes.

Powered by in-house developed models and OpenAI’s large language models, the tool allows customers to receive personalized advice based on their style and needs.

The objective of the assistant (still in beta) is to facilitate the search for articles in the platform’s catalog, via intuitive questions. For example, a user might ask, “What should I wear to my dad’s 60th birthday in Barcelona in November?” The tool takes into account location, weather and occasion to suggest suitable outfits.

“We know our customers want to be inspired when they come to Zalando. That’s why rolling out our Zalando Assistant to all markets is an important step in our commitment to improving the customer experience by making it easier for them to discover fashion that suits their unique style and needs,” says Tian Su, vice president of personalization and recommendation at Zalando.
