The favorite car of gangsters, the Resistance and General de Gaulle. Citroën blows the way in 2024 90 years of its famous Traction Avant. Born in 1934, this model caused a sensation upon its release. This car adopted the front drive wheels, hence its name Traction Avant. Considered innovative at the time, it was even nicknamed the car “with 100 patents”.

The Traction Avant was notably used by the Gestapo and the Resistance during the Second World War. A gang of criminals, specialized in armed attacks, was even called “the Traction Avant gang“. She also traveled the roads of the Tour de France for a long time.

The career of this car lasted 23 years, until 1957. More than 700,000 have been sold. She is today highly sought after by collectors and remains one of the most famous French cars of the pre- and post-war era.
