Since October 1st, the manager has spent his time on the phone, “or in the station with the people moaning in front of the closed diesel pumps”. Because at TotalEnergies, Porte d’Orléans, as in the main large oil stations in the capital, the sale of diesel has been banned since Tuesday. As amazing as it may seem, the town hall actually issued an order to this effect in June. A measure totally obscured by another: the limitation of the ring road to 50 km/h.

In fact, at city hall, we simply followed the concession contracts which bind the city to gasoline distributors and which have specified, for years, that on this fateful date, diesel is finished. And again, the date in question was pushed back because of the Olympics.

Diesel enthusiasts sent back to the suburbs

Obviously, since then, many customers, often professionals who want to refuel their vans, have found themselves in front of closed pumps. 750,000 people would be affected by these measures, as would health professionals, firefighters and all public services. All are sent back, by the managers, to suburban stations. Like that of Arcueil, which has recorded larger queues for two days. Stations which are obviously undersized to receive this new influx of customers

In practice, not all stations are affected. Paris City Hall has decided to make an impression by imposing this diktat on the most important ones, such as that of the Porte d’Orléans, but also three other pumps that can be found all around the ring road.

A few diesel pumps nevertheless remain

A first measure that could cause an oil (or diesel) stain? Presumably. Because the desire to push diesel out of Paris is a desire demonstrated for a long time by Anne Hidalgo, who, for once, is followed in this direction by Valérie Pécresse who wants to do the same throughout the island region. , at least in the area of the future Greater Paris.

For its part, TotalEnergie explains that « this stop is likely to lead to a significant transfer of vehicles to neighboring stations, which are not designed to handle this new influx of customers. TotalEnergies does everything it can to welcome its customers in the best possible conditions.”. While remembering that four stations of the brand are affected, that of Porte d’Orléans, of course, but also three others, located on the inner and outer ring road.

In any case, drivers who run on diesel are asked to approach the capital with a full tank, while keeping their eyes glued to their speedometer so as not to exceed 50 km/h on the route, and 30 km/h. h in intra-muros Paris.
