Its president Cristiano Amon approached Intel with a view to a takeover of the founder.
The Santa Clara firm is in fact in bad posture.
Its stock price has in fact fallen by around 60%. since the beginning of the year due to its poor results which have notably led to recent layoffs.
It missed the turn of smartphones while some of its customers now produce their own chips. And it is falling behind in reducing the fineness of the engraving of processors.
Intel has decided to create an independent subsidiary for its foundry activitythe construction of factories taking the eye.
If he bet on AI to get healthy again, Intel whets appetites.
Its acquisition implies that it would be necessary to update the current 100 billion dollars on the table.
And Qualcomm is reportedly particularly interested in buying its PC business.
