Volvo Trucks, founded in Sweden in 1929, manufactures trucks, buses, construction equipment and electrical solutions. The brand contributes to many industries around the world by developing environmentally friendly means of transport and logistics.

With this DNA, Volvo continues to thrive and manufactures vehicles in 130 countries. With its 104,000 employees (2023 figures) and its network of 2,300 sales outlets, the brand has sold more than a million vehicles worldwide.

Electrification is taking off: Volvo Trucks is developing trucks that balance a safe driving experience, intuitive and optimized ergonomics, while being environmentally friendly. The group’s ambitions are broad: to become the market leader in regional transport by developing efficient electric solutions, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. To achieve this, the brand will only offer trucks powered by carbon-neutral alternatives by that date. An intermediate goal is to reduce CO2 emissions from trucks sold by 50% by 2030.

Volvo Trucks is a pioneer in electric trucks, with the most extensive range on the market. The group already holds 50% of the market in Europe and North America, with more than 7,000 trucks sold, 1,000 customers and 45 countries served.

“Sustainability is part of our culture,” proclaims the brand. In 2001, Volvo Trucks began its Moroccan adventure, and by 2023, more than 100 buses and 600 trucks had been delivered, a record for the country and the region.

“The challenges we face, from climate change to biodiversity loss, require innovative solutions. At Volvo Trucks, we take this responsibility to heart. Volvo is not just a name, it is a promise to our planet and future generations. We want to leave a lasting mark: cleaner air, quieter cities and a safer world for our children,” said Goran Travancic, Managing Director of Volvo Morocco.

It is in this context that the first edition of Volvo Greendays was born. This opportunity allows to discuss and provide solutions to a country in full transformation. This edition will seal a pact between the key players, who will meet regularly to form an active community and exchange on the energy transformation.

“We have deployed strong strategic partnerships with local players to contribute to the development of the brand strategy. These partnerships strengthen an ecosystem that is committed and adaptable to local constraints,” said Goran Travancic.

Volvo Trucks works closely with Solar Power, a Moroccan player 100% committed to the energy transition and decarbonization, and member of Green Tech Partners. Solar Power is active at every stage of the energy process, with solutions ranging from solar photovoltaic for electricity to biomass boilers for thermal. Solar Power has completed numerous renewable energy (RE) projects in Morocco, totaling more than 20 MW installed.

Goran Travancic adds: “We have chosen to host this first edition at the Institute for Training in Transport and Logistics Professions, because an effective transformation requires well-trained men and women who are aware of their immediate impact.”

The Institute for Training in Transport and Logistics Professions (IFTL) is a public institution with delegated management, initiated by professionals in the sector. It trains high-performing people who meet the needs of the market, with cutting-edge technological facilities allowing real logistics immersion.

The meeting would not be complete without the presence of Msc-Pro, an organization dedicated to the promotion of the Supply Chain in Morocco. This network of more than 200 members shares experiences and perspectives on the supply chain.

“This first edition is for us a cornerstone, a strong commitment from Volvo Trucks Morocco towards the players in the energy transformation. As I often say: Partnership is the new leadership”, concludes Goran Travancic.
