SNCF: it will soon no longer be possible to pay for your tickets with paper holiday vouchers: News

It’s the final stretch to use your paper holiday vouchers with SNCF. From January 1, 2025, it will only accept digital tickets, reports Actu.fr.

This is another new feature that SNCF line users will have to get used to. After introducing a limited number of bags, SNCF confirmed to Actu.fr that it would no longer accept the paper version of holiday vouchers. From January 1, 2025, only payments with dematerialized tickets will be possible. Distributed by the National Agency for Holiday Vouchers (ANCV), the tickets are valid for two years and can be used to pay for expenses related to vacations and leisure activities.

According to SNCF observations, customers using holiday vouchers are becoming fewer and fewer. To warn those who still have them, posters will be hung. “ANCV will also communicate with its targets,” reassures the railway group.

Exchange fees to convert them

Those who do not plan to travel before next summer can rest assured: they will be able to convert their soon-to-be-obsolete tickets. But this exchange will not be free. A fee of 10 euros will be applied. The ANCV explains on its website how to proceed. If you forget to exchange your paper tickets before the deadline, nothing will prevent you from using them in the many stores or establishments that still accept them.
