(Keystone-ATS) The year 2023 ended on a positive note for Retraites Populaires, despite a difficult environment. The Vaud pension specialist and insurer recorded good results.

These allow it to consolidate its balance sheet and redistribute surpluses to policyholders, it indicates in a press release published Thursday.

A difficult geopolitical context and turbulent financial markets failed last year to weigh down Retraites Populaires, which recorded a positive performance of 4.3% on their investments. A result which allows them to consolidate their reserves and their degree of coverage. In addition, a surplus contribution of 32 million francs was paid to insured persons. Retraites Populaires were also able to pay a total one-off allowance of 3.5 million to 2nd pillar pensioners. In terms of collections, the institution achieved a record amount of 800 million.

During the past year, Retraites Populaires continued their building renovations and property acquisitions. In total, the institution manages nearly 650 buildings and more than 15,800 housing units.

Also note that on January 1, 2024, Eric Niederhauser took over from Philippe Doffey as general director of Retraites Populaires.
