A successful bet for the Swiss house Vacheron Constantin, which presented a record-breaking watch this week. Named Les Cabinotiers The Berkley Grand Complication, it contains 63 complicationsnever seen.
In watchmaking, a complication is a function other than displaying the hours and minutes. These can be astronomical functions (phase of the Moon, sunrise and sunset times), practical functions (chronograph, minute repeater) or even technical functions (stop seconds). The Berkley Grand Complication offers the noblest watchmaking functions including a Chinese and Gregorian perpetual calendar, a split-seconds chronograph but also six alarm functions, eight chime functions, nine astronomical complications, a sky map displaying the constellations, not to mention the time display in several time zones .
A unique watch with ultra-advanced technology which required eleven years of work, including a year entirely devoted to assembly. All executed by three master watchmakers des Cabinotiers, the Vacheron Constantin department dedicated to the creation of unique pieces.
With this new timepiece, Vacheron Constantin beats its own complication record. In 2015, the Swiss manufacturer already presented a highly complex model: the pocket watch reference 57260which had 57 complications.
Beyond satisfying the desires of wealthy collectors (Les Cabinotiers Berkley Grand Complication and the pocket watch reference 57260 are two commissions from William F. Berkley, founder of WR.
