Mathilde de Lapeyre, from tale to book

Based in Lansargues, the storyteller Mathilde de Lapeyre offers shows from her repertoire of popular tales for children or with stories specially adapted for toddlers, but also for older children. A former school teacher, she knows how to adapt her repertoire to the age of the children, places, seasons and situations. She just wrote a book Watch out for the Big Bottle. Encounter.

What can you tell us about this book?

More than an album, it is a simple and effective method for creating a document with the students I meet in the schools where I have the honor of being invited to tell stories. In this album that I wrote with a graphic designer, the symbolic shapes, in this case geometric figures, help to implicitly understand the plot and the narrative. These shapes can help transform this story into a new one with an illustration that the child can do themselves.

Why make this album?

It was at the request of the teachers that I decided to leave a few traces to illustrate the plot of the story. The child having integrated the symbolism of the story, he will be able to appropriate it to make another one in his own way.

What is the plot of the story?

Big Bidon, a big, rude and always hungry glutton, is invited to lunch by his neighbor. This very friendly little lady serves him a good meal. But Big Bottle is still hungry, so he swallows the little lady.

Book available at the town’s tobacco press and on the website labananeverte.fr. Mathilde de Lapeyre will perform on January 31 at 8 p.m. at the Puilacher library as part of “Mots Parleurs”.
