The mayor ofAbbeville Pascal Demarhe, Florence Petit, cultural assistant, and the Abbeville media library team presented the poster for the 10th Abbeville Book Fair to the large public, elected officials and college students, this Friday, January 17 in the Robert Mallet Media Library.
After the unveiling by Pascal Demarthe and the author – designer of this poster, Damien Cuvillierall were invited to the 1st floor of the structure for the exhibition entitled “The Perspective of Damien Cuvillier” a life in comic strip open to the public at the Robert Mallet Media Library until February 28 and then at the Saint-André Cultural Space in March.
The sugar factory’s chimney in the spotlight
“I wanted to feature the sugar factory’s chimney, a symbol of Abbeville’s industrial past,” says Damien Cuvillier, whose work will not fail to delight Abbeville residents who still remember the smoke and the characteristic smell of the process allowing transform the beet into sugar.
-This 10th anniversary was also an opportunity to present the work of the students of the Memory club of Millevoye college as well as their teacher Hélène Picard and Rudy Cochet for the exhibition entitled “Past Present” which allows us to rediscover the history of the sugar factory. ‘Abbeville. This exhibition echoes the fireplace depicted on the poster.
Book fair on March 8 and 9 at Espace St-André
The 10th Book Fair will take place on Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9, 2025 at Espace St-André. A 10th edition organized by the Abbeville media libraries.
Forty authors will be present over the weekend, more than 15 workshops and author meetings per day, 80 interventions in advance in schools in the Somme Bay Community involving 50 classes.
