The police services of the Témara region, in coordination with their counterparts in Rabat and thanks to precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested, on Tuesday January 7, three individuals, including two women , suspected of belonging to a criminal network specializing in scam and fraud crimes. One of the women arrested is also known to the police due to a criminal record.
According to initial investigations, this criminal organization used sophisticated witchcraft to deceive its victims through fraudulent maneuvers and strip them of their personal property and valuables. These practices made it possible to identify a first suspect, arrested and subjected to a judicial investigation before being referred to the competent public prosecutor’s office.
The in-depth investigation led, that same day, to the arrest of three additional accomplices near a cemetery located on the coastal strip of Rabat. The latter were apprehended in flagrante delicto, in possession of objects allegedly used in their criminal activities, including a rosary, a watch, jewelry, as well as a sum of money considered to come from their misdeeds.
Verification of the suspects’ identities in the National Security databases revealed that two of them were the subject of national search warrants, issued by the judicial police services of Témara, Rabat and Tikouine, for similar cases of scam and fraud.
The three individuals were placed in police custody, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to elucidate the circumstances and ramifications of this case, and to determine the extent of their criminal activities. Investigations are continuing to identify possible other victims or accomplices linked to this organized network.
