The Vendée Globe Journal of Tuesday January 7: Charlie Dalin widens the gap, Cape Horn crossed!

Welcome to the Vendée Globe Journal for Tuesday January 7, 2025!
After 59 days at sea, the battle rages between the 35 skippers still in the running. Charlie Dalin, aboard MACIF Santé Prévoyance, retains the lead and widens the gap on Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa), his closest pursuer.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Ferré (Monnoyeur – Duo for a Job) crossed Cape Horn this morning, under relatively mild weather conditions. Many skippers, such as Eric Bellion (Stand As One), Violette Dorange (DeVenir) and Arnaud Boissières (La Mie Câline), are opting for caution in the face of two consecutive storms which promise to be formidable.
In the ranking, Jean Le Cam (Tout commence en Finistère – Armor-lux) continues his strong comeback and climbs into the top 15. Nicolas Lunven (Holcim – PRB), despite the absence of a masthead, continues with perseverance his progress in an offshore option.
