It is this Monday, January 6 that work on the Mobi’Park TEC in Tilleur begins, Wallonia has just granted the permit for the creation of this first 100% electric bus depot.
“The start of the work, including the installation of the site, is scheduled for January 6, 2025. The first shovel is scheduled for 01/28 in the morning,” indicates the TEC in a press release.
In addition to being a depot, notably for the new BUSWAY fleet (High Level of Service buses – BHLS), the site will house administrative, technical, maintenance and operating areas. A training center for TEC staff for learning (theoretical and practical) driving, and technical training, is also planned. In total, nearly 500 people will work on the site every day. Thanks to the greening of the bus fleet, the capacity of the fuel tank was halved, from 400,000 to 190,000 liters.
The granting of this unique permit takes into account the comments of residents and the recommendations of the environmental impact study since the project has been adapted, it is further underlined. The site will thus have a landscaped car park, incorporate a cycle-pedestrian promenade and recommendations linked to infrastructure such as the rearrangement of the main road leading to the Mobi’Park.
“The Mobi’Park in Tilleur, like the tram, is essential to the development of the new Liège network. Called to become the first 100% electric bus fleet in Wallonia, this project concretizes the desire of the TEC and the Walloon Government to invest in new generation vehicles that are more reliable and more ecological,” commented Jean-Michel Soors, general administrator of the TEC.
Announced for 2027, the Ans-Chênée high-level service #buses will not run before 2030
