There are only a few days left before Christmas and you are looking for a book for your child to encourage them to read. At your favorite bookseller or on the internet, the four volumes of the collection “The tales of Léon and Augustine” published by Maison Léonard appear obvious.
This series, launched in 2023, is the guarantee of diving back into childhood and feeling the spray of the Opal Coast tickle the tip of your nose. First there is a cover that catches the eye. A delicate watercolor drawing on a white background represents Douglas, a dachshund with a puffy nose. You break down. You buy the children’s book for 15.95 euros each.

In his best-seller“Douglas the Dachshund”, released in August 2024, the reader enjoys discovering a story “poetic and gentle punctuated with touches of humor”judges the writer of the book. In his story, Douglas, her former pet when she was 13, takes a trip to the Le Touquet page with his friends. This touching story would even have created emulation among our dear four-legged friends. “J‘signed a book for a dachshund’ laughs the author.
The world of animals and the landscape of the Côte d’Opale, Constance Gronnier’s unwavering source of inspiration for her series “An Adventure in Le Touquet”. The young mother of two children aged 3 and 5, her first readers, lives in a house between the sea and the forest. “We wanted to introduce children to the Opal Coast”she says.
From her adopted Touquet, she observes horse riders strolling, deer strolling in her garden, seagulls laughing near the seafront or even seals lounging on the beach. “In my books, I like to highlight the child’s side of wonder in the face of nature”explains the children’s literature writer.

And this concept works like a charm. The story of “Douglas, the dachshund.” is available in nearly forty points of sale in Hauts-de-France or on its e-commerce site. “I even get books ordered from the Spanish border”she adds.
The author has sold nearly 6,000 copies in a year and a half. Readers’ parents seem to love it. “When they buy one, they usually can’t help but order the sequel.” insists Constance Gronnier.
In its collection, from the age of two, there is something for everyone. For comics, “Little seal” or for the sensitive, “Colette, the Fringe”the jellyfish, which plunges the reader into an ocean of emotions.
The series “An adventure in Le Touquet“is also an ode to the territory of the Côte d’Opale. In”Raoul, the seagull“, it is a love story of a father and his son for the legendary motorcycle race, the Enduro. In this story, Constance Gronnier has fun transcribing an unmissable event, her territory. “Like this,“Children are made aware of the tourist and heritage aspects of a place.” This story is also enhanced with a QR code allowing the player to listen to the song “I fly and dance” by Billy Maïartist from Lille.
If Constance Gronnier’s stories are such a hit, it is thanks to the pencil work of Guillaume Cambier, designer. He draws in watercolor in a style vintagereminiscent of the graphic universe of the books of Martine or even Ernest and Celestine. “I fell in love with Guillaume’s drawing when I discovered it on Instagram. Ithere is a very creative aspect in his pastel colored drawings. On had a real artistic fusion. It clearly depicts what I imagine in my head.”says the writer.
During this Christmas period, Constance Gronnier, the author, is on all fronts to promote her books. For April 2025, she announces that she will release a new book, this time, taking place in Montreuil-sur-Mer.
