René Momper is preparing to publish his third book. At 62, this former coal mining surveyor was inspired by local history for his thriller “The Order of Wieselstein”. The release is scheduled for next month. We met him at his home in Woustviller.
Its N°1 – ''The Order of Wieselstein'', a thriller set against a backdrop of local history in Moselle-Est
René Momper started writing in 2010 after a stroke.
Since then, I have had some after-effects.
Impossible for him to continue working. He then spent a lot of time in front of his computer and decided to tell his story by publishing his first autobiographical book, Cancer of the Soul, which deals with depression.
The book was difficult to write because we remember so many things, but afterwards, sharing it can help other people who are going through somewhat similar things.
A few years later, René Momper decided to try his hand at the fantasy style with his second book: Les Reliques.
It takes place in the 14150s. There are mages, fantastic characters, it's a book to escape.
A thriller between Forbach and the Pays de Bitche
The latest book, currently being reread, is a thriller.
It's called “The Order of Wieselstein”. At the beginning, there is a murder. We try to elucidate the murder and as the investigation progresses, it turns out that there is something else being prepared in the region, an attack.
An invented story with the local landscape as a backdrop.
It’s happening in Forbach, Freyming-Merlebach, Saint-Avold, Bitche, the Simserhof… I said to myself, there are lots of things that we can read in books, TV series that talk about different sectors, I I said why not talk about our sector.
René Momper's first two books are available on online sales platforms. “The Order of Wieselstein” should be released in early December, before the Christmas holidays.
