The third edition of Children's Week, organized by the Deux-Sèvres departmental council, offers more than 40 free events for the whole family and throughout the department. This year, the theme is “The book and reading”, with the aim of raising awareness among families and children of the importance of reading from an early age.
On November 20, the Saint-Varent media library, dependent on the Thouarsais reading network, offered a Raconte-moi… la missive. Two sessions were coordinated, one, in the morning, for children aged 0 to 3, and the second, in the afternoon, for children aged 4 and over. Both workshops were well attended.
Isabelle, the media library's essential storyteller, brilliantly hosted the activity to the delight of her young audience. A “La missive” reading mat as well as Books were provided by the Department. The carpet represents a huge stamped envelope and bears the inscription “Collection of images for good children eager for adventures in the land of readings”.
Isabelle, who has hosted Raconte-moi for many years, knows her young audience. She preferred to read several books that she placed on the reading mat than one or two large books in which the children quickly lost interest. Her imagination and DIY skills matched well with the concept of the reading mat. She made cards (a quote on the front and a postcard-sized image, closest to a book cover on the back). The children were invited to choose a card and look for the book placed on the carpet and corresponding to the image so that it could be read by the storyteller. The reading of a sung book, musically accompanied by Isabelle, closed the session. “ When the children are happy, I am happy », smiled the storyteller, who once again enchanted her audience.
Next event on December 11 as part of Leonardo's Christmas.
