Rustic: the book “chicken coop” open to the public

For several weeks now, a large book box has stood proudly on Place du Bataillon Minervois next to the free notice board.

At the initiative of Aline Vaujany, 1st deputy, and the library volunteers, this will be the ideal place to get something to read during the summer break since the library is closed to the public. until Tuesday, September 10. Reopening on Wednesday September 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Vaujany wanted something “rustic” (note the subtle play on words) to put in the urban landscape. So the technical services agents concocted a box in the shape of an old-fashioned chicken coop with a black roof and hexagonal grille on the wooden doors camouflaging the plexiglass essential for protecting the books from the elements.

With a first floor intended for young people and a second higher for a more mature audience, this box is self-service. You can help yourself and drop off as many books as you want. Of course, some rules of good manners are strongly recommended: leave books in good condition, with appropriate content, respect the age category of the shelf where you place the books.

Many different styles are already waiting for you. Enough to spend excellent literary moments when the heat of the southern summer forces you to limit your activities. Come and pick the books laid in the Rustiques book henhouse.
