“I write light things, to entertain”: this author from Haute-Loire has just released her second book

“It's a bit tricky to say… In fact, in this book, I'm making fun of myself. » Dominique Sanselme has just published, with Akki Editions, his second work: La Marthe. The story of a septuagenarian who lives “retired in a small hamlet and who has arranged her entire life so as not to depend on technology. It's ilelectronic! But then an absolutely terrible electronicism”, specifies its author with a broad smile.

So don't talk to him about smartphones, tablets or the Internet. Martha doesn't care. Obviously, the daily life of this central character, who smells strongly of mothballs, is made up of funny situations. Like when she breaks down her car in the middle of nowhere or has to pay for parking on a “damn” parking meter. Marthe is both funny and endearing. And a computer and an Internet connection are not going to make his life easier. Quite the contrary!

This Brivadoise retiree is not her first attempt. Four years ago, she published The Mass, the Soft Caramels and the Priest. Dominique Sanselme drew on his youthful memories to recount the journey and adventures of a child from Brioude in the 1960s, from the basilica to the Visitation via Places Saint-Jean and Eugène-Gilbert. The publication had had its small success.

“Then two years ago, I started writing little anecdotes that came to me, like that… And that’s how the adventures of La Marthe began. I find that the theme of electronicism is ultimately quite universal… I also voluntarily left the end of the book open to, who knows, perhaps, one day, follow up the adventures of this character! »
