A first book fair on local history in Puceul

The first edition of the Puceul Book Fair (-Atlantique) will be held on Saturday November 23, at the initiative of the Pepites44 association. An event specially dedicated to the sale of works which relate the history of blue stone – schist stone – or list its heritage.

For this first, around fifteen associations will present their books and magazines. In total, more than fifty works will be offered. Among which those of the historians Jean Bourgeon, with the history of Treillières Guémené-Penfao, and Christian Bouvet, on that of Châteaubriant, from the origins to the 19the century: enough to expand your knowledge of the region and why not, develop a passion for blue stone, its history and its delicately crafted objects.

Around forty heritage development associations

Pepites44 is a small association which nevertheless lives up to its name. Since its creation in 2017, its volunteers have listed all the nuggets of the country of blue stone, and in particular the ordeals. “The association was born from the desire to list the crosses, then in danger, explains Didier Teffo, president. On IGN maps, we have listed 1,400; on the ground, 1,200. This allowed us to delimit the territory of the blue stone which extends over 50 to 60 municipalities. »

Around forty associations in the surrounding area are working to awaken the heritage of this area and Pepites44 is in regular contact with around thirty of them. Hence the idea of offering their work to a wide audience. This book fair echoes the first forum of heritage and environmental associations which was held on April 13, 2024 and which will be repeated on June 7, 2025, in Moisdon-la-Rivière.

This meeting is also an opportunity to draw attention to the promotion of the work of volunteers. “Today, unfortunately, certain works are no longer published, deplores Didier Teffo, due to lack of finances. We always hope for patrons who allow us to commit to new prints and thus preserve our work; work which itself allows us to safeguard our heritage wealth. »

Saturday November 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Salle du Puits, Place de l'Église (behind the library), in Puceul. FREE ENTRANCE.
