Games and books for teenagers

Meeting teenagers is what Tourne-Livres does once a month.

Last Monday, during the lunch break, six volunteers were at the Victor-Hugo college and at the end of the operation, the count was good: 343 visits to the games, that's as many books, and a few posters, left in the student bags: comics, documentaries, novels and even dictionaries and school books.

“I wanted to win books”

Invent a story, recognize comic strip and manga characters, associate expressions and their meaning, authors and their works, locate French-speaking countries on a map, complete texts and read them aloud, play with pronunciation and conjugation… The main thing is to participate, and teenagers do it willingly. Lou confirms this: “You play little games, it works your memory and at the same time, you win books. It's good ! » And Yann added: “I couldn’t wait to come. I was there last year. I wanted to win books, I already have seven! »

Julien, education assistant, was also waiting for this annual meeting. “It’s an interesting moment. The students, during the break between 12 and 2 p.m., see something else, they have access to reading and it always goes very well. They forget to go eat. »

During the year 2023, 1,700 used books were given to middle and high school students, and the 2024 count has already exceeded 2,000. This successful activity is made possible by book donations made to the association.
