Friday at 6:30 p.m., at the Chabanais village hall and Saturday at 10:15 a.m., at the Exideuil village hall, José Délias will address the fights and skirmishes in the Vienne valley and the battle of Chabanais. Benoit Savy will retrace the journey of Bernard Le Lay, known as Colonel Bernard, “the Charentais Guingouin” according to the author.
For each conference, the story will be in two parts, the first depending on the location will highlight the themes specific to the events that took place there. The second part will be devoted to Colonel Bernard. It will also be the first time that a biography of this Resistance character will be developed. A story that will address his family life from his beginnings to his role in the local and regional Resistance.
The book “1944, the Charente limousine liberates itself” required a year of hard work made of accomplished and documented research in regional, departmental and national archives. Moreover, each page which addresses a theme is attached to a reference which attests to the authenticity of the writings.
