Montceau-les-Mines: Gilles Desnoix, new book “Montceau News

For years, Gilles Desnoix has been writing…

poems, novels, articles, etc.

He writes about everything around him, a bulimic of characters, a thirsty for verses and against all…

Insatiable for culture and knowledge, he is interested in everything, a true bottomless well!

Novelist, poet, short story writer, PQR press correspondent on the Net, at 72 years old, this retired former territorial director has been writing since the age of 15. Both hands are no longer enough to count his publications: novels, collections of poetry, short stories, stories, etc.

“I write every day, on the computer or in my head, the texts, the pages turn in a loop until it is the moment of blooming on the paper”. There is no shortage of projects and Gilles knows no drought, his imagination is fully irrigated and his intra-cerebellar journeys are as numerous as ever.

For now, he invites us to the release of his latest writing, a 438-page, 700-gram thriller to devour greedily. A story where the lives of many characters intertwine, whose intrigue and shenanigans are not too far from reality.

Current events nourish this author, always seeking to understand the world in which he lives.

This thriller is the mix of several threads that the author pulled and weaved as he wished to make a story that matured for almost 3 years before being finalized: “a political thriller fueled by absurd reality”, as he likes to point out.

How was this story constructed?

“At first, it was just a short story for my 4th collection of short stories. The story of a species of human praying mantis who seduces young women and rereading it, I realized that it could be integrated into a larger whole.
Then, I wrote the first chapter of a novel about a company publishing total immersion video games which made sarcophagi available to customers so that they could live crazy experiences in highly augmented virtuality. The second chapter dealt with a billionaire who wanted to relive the retreat from Russia of the great army of Napoleon I. All his biological functions were taken care of by the machine and he could go 48 hours without having to do any poses.
The third source of the story came from my diligent reading of the novels of Qiu Xiaolong and Eliot Pattison. There I acquired in-depth knowledge about triads, Chinese mafias and the Chinese state security services.
Finally, a press article one day caught my attention so strongly that I wrote an article about it and took this information into my own hands to integrate it into my story. A laboratory was looking for a hundred young virgin women for research on the papillomavirus. Well, supposedly.

The dialectic of good versus evil feeds literature with dramatic reality

This duality fuels my novel.

Trafficking in human beings and organs is a clear reality. Every minute, every hour, of every day, of every month in the world a drama is played out, a human being is reduced to slavery, illegal organ harvesting takes place.
There are more and more centenarians, genetic sciences are constantly evolving, but there are still no immortal beings, except perhaps the tardigrades. Yet since the dawn of time, human beings have wanted to find the recipe for immortality.

Crocq en vie talks about that and the damage, the drama and the abuses that it causes. All for one, all to allow one to be a billionaire, all-powerful and to acquire immortality.”

“The father of the President of the Republic at the center of a state scandal, of an international conspiracy? A secret service, very, very unofficial, of the Élysée which plays its own game, even against national and international interests? A Mayor of the Capital fighting against the President of the Île de region, billionaires who need virgin blood transfusions to achieve immortality? A young scientist caught by a praying mantis thirsty for eternal love? All this and more with dirty tricks, cheerful massacres and dramatic twists. In short, just enough to whip a cat.
The characters are as important as the story, in fact they are the story of the story.”

There will undoubtedly be a sequel…

Three options are available to readers: ebook, hardcover, paperback
