Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid: a book to promote a village like no other

A book on Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid has just been published by Hauteur d’Homme. Between photos and story, this work tells the extraordinary story that unites the inhabitants, traders and businesses of this unique village.

Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid, its incredible world. This small village, bordering Haute-Loire and Ardèche, atypical and gourmet, has built a reputation and a state of mind that each generation strives to cultivate. We are talking about the Saint-Bonnet Attitude.

Saint-Bonnet, men and women

Twelve years ago, at the initiative of Thierry Guyot, then president of the animation committee and head of Fort du Pré, a first document was printed, to immortalize on glossy paper the men, women and actions which make Saint-Bonnet. Luc Olivier, a renowned photographer in Haute-Loire, was at the time.

A new version, updated and enriched, has just been published. Laurence Barruel, regular photographer from Saint-Bonnet, and Luc Olivier have pooled their talents to immortalize the figures and events of the village. There are also recipes from village chefs that you can easily make at home.

Johannès Marcon: “We love being together”

“We cultivate the spirit of the gang,” says Johannès Marcon, the wine merchant who became president of the animation committee. “We love being together, enlivening our village. Everyone does what they know how to do. In Saint-Bonnet, we have a way of life instilled over generations, like a torch that we pass around.” Knowing how to live goes hand in hand with living together. The spirit of welcome and openness is expressed both towards customers and new arrivals.

“Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid”, editions Hauteur d’homme, €19.50.
