Fourchambault. On December 7 and 14, book sculpture will be in the spotlight at the media library. On Saturdays, December 7 and 14, the Alexandre-Breffort Media Library will offer a workshop with high added artistic value.
“A workshop offered as part of a co-participation that we have set up for our most loyal readers,” explains Aurélie Laroche, one of the three librarians. “A way to highlight the talent and know-how of each person in various fields.”
At the beginning of December, it will be Christine Petitdidier who intends to introduce a few people to book sculpture. A technique which consists of using the edge of hardcover works intended for the pestle to create remarkable compositions. Despite a recent passion, cutting, folding, collages no longer have any secrets for her. While various creative arts materials such as beads, threads, ribbons refine creations that are as inventive as they are customizable.
“I discovered this type of creation two years ago at a flea market. With, immediately, the desire to do the same. After a few tutorials taken on the Internet, I launched into my own productions.” Its sources of inspiration are multiple and its themes are often associated with the different remarkable moments that punctuate a year.
Meticulousness, precision and skill
For the Fourchambaultais workshop, this theme will be seasonal. Even if the subject to be carried out remains to be defined. A Christmas tree? A book that opens with a Christmas magnificently written in red and green letters, like the models she is already able to present?
And to explain the creation: “74 sheets for the N, 46 for the O, 51 for the E and 31 for the L. Very precisely”. Future participants know what to expect. Attention to detail, precision and skill are required. With, as a reward, at the end of the two sessions, the pleasure of leaving with an object to treat yourself or as a gift.
“Everything will be ready to welcome them and the workshop is completely free,” specifies Aurélie Laroche. But be careful, the two sessions scheduled, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., will only be aimed at one and the same group. As the number of places is very limited, it is essential to register at 03.86.60.87.89.
