On Thursday, June 13, the evening of presentation of back-to-school books from the Association of Publishers of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which brings together independent publishers and works to publicize their productions, took place at Fabrique Pola, quai de Brazza. This event, which takes place regularly in other towns in the region, brought together a dozen publishers who came to present their upcoming publications to booksellers, librarians, trade fair organizers, institutions and journalists.
The opportunity to learn, for example, the release of the 14e volume of “Chronicles of St Mary” by Jodi Taylor (Hervé Chopin) and the best-seller of French-speaking fantasy “Winning the War” by Jean-Philippe Jaworski in a luxury illustrated version (Les Moutons Électriques). Several first novels are announced, works by established authors such as Lydie Salvayre (“L’Ire des Marges”), books on Albert Camus (“Le Bord de l’eau”), a translation of “Oubliés” by José Rodrigues dos Santos (Hervé Chopin).
On the magazine side, the Festin follows the theme of “getting some fresh air” and plans to publish it in bistros, clubs and other places of conviviality. L’Arbre Vengeur, one of the three publishers based at Fabrique Pola, announces the reissue of an unobtainable novel, published by Gallimard in 1960, “Rue des Vivants”, by Suzanne Martin, a realistic account of the working life of the Bastide in the 1930s, transfigured by the poetic prose of the author who was a recognized artist.
The other publishers present were Le Castor Astral, Passiflore, Finitude, Éditions du Canoë, La Nage de l’Ourse, Memoring, Aux Cailloux des chemins.
