Twenty local and regional authors, as well as associations will be there for the 32nd Free Day organized on Sunday, in the hamlet of La Dure.
The 32 e edition of Book Day organized by Les Gat's do Bourbonnais will be held on Sunday November 10, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the hamlet of La Dure (free entry). Twenty authors and associations will be present to sign their works.
Among them, Berrichon Michel Pinglaut will present an astonishing French-Berrichon dictionary in four volumes. This former school principal, fervent defender of public schools, man of the theater, has the Berry language under his skin.
Coming to the Bourbonnais country will not be a provocation
It was over the years that he became interested in this language which, according to him, retains “a very particular flavor”. And coming to Bourbonnais country will not be a provocation.
On the contrary, the patois of the Bourbonnaise province, once included in the bishopric of Bourges, are cousins. Closer than you might think.
But the Berrichon and “proud of it”, recalls the author, embarked on a mad race to dissect the Berrichon patois. Four volumes to understand it and “safeguard this linguistic heritage” through themes that are as different as each other.
A discovery of the heritage of Gat's do Bourbonnais
Speaking of course, but also spelling, grammar, family, libertinism, sexuality, medicine, peasants, in short a world where “let's talk like we're talking” and even “like the r'bouteu” .
A whole atmosphere to discover by turning the pages of a dictionary loving the patois, in the company of local and regional authors, who for some are regulars of this Book Day and for others will be a discovery of the heritage of the Gat's du Bourbonnais. And for once around the traditional pot-au-feu.
