Frédéric Pasco-Werlé from Vendôme is today headmaster at Joué-lès- high school, after having been principal at Jean-Emond and Robert-Lasneau colleges. He was also one of the driving forces behind the Promenades Photographies.

In June 2024, he published, with Éditions La Simarre, You will never be a man my sona work telling how he treats on a daily basis the terrible scar that has been eating away at him since the disappearance of his son on December 20, 2003…

The book is short (61 pages) but intense and perfectly written. With simple and often strong words, Frédéric Pasco-Werlé succeeds in transmitting emotion, without ever becoming tearful. The former mathematics teacher writes from a certain distance, as if to better understand the sequence of facts and events, while immersing himself in the letters received at the time of the tragedy.

« I started writing this book in 2019, after burnout, he explains. During all the years that preceded, I had forgotten myself in the support that my partner needed and totally invested in my work ».

Beyond the drama, the book addresses essential subjects such as the relationship with doctors, the support of friends which cannot last as long as suffering, the reactions of the professional environment, the relationship with God or the questioning of the meaning of 'a life. A book which also seems to have liberated its author who is now devoting himself to writing a first novel.

Frédéric Pasco-Werlé, “You will never be a man my son” (Éditions La Simarre), €14.
