The ninth edition of the Give to Read operation began on October 17 (World Day to End Poverty) and runs until November 20 (International Children's Rights Day), in independent bookstores.
This initiative of the French Bookstore Union and Independent Bookstores
allows us to offer Books to children and adolescents supported all year round by Secours populaire français.
The principle is the same as that of the suspended café: for one month, customers of participating bookstores are invited to choose and add a children's book to their purchases then entrust it to their bookseller. This book is then offered by Secours Populaire volunteers to a child or adolescent who has none or too little.

“I know how important reading is for building oneself, one's culture, one's imagination,” comments journalist Émilie Tran Nguyen, sponsor of the operation. If there is one object that I like to own, to keep in my library or on my bedside table, it is the book. A new book is a precious gift. »
In 2023, 22,000 books were collected in 750 independent bookstores across France.
In partnership with Secours populaire français and France Télévisions.
