You don’t become a magician by magic
And yes, magic, like school, requires attention, rigor and perseverance. This is the first lesson of the documentary book 100% Magicpublished on October 16, 2024 by Bayard jeunesse editions for children aged 7 to 11.
The work was written by Brunot Muscat, journalist at the magazine Astrapiwith illustrations signed by a comic strip author, Vincent Caut. The album brings together a drawn step by step, simple and precise texts, which reveals the secrets of a small part of the experience of Sébastien Mossière who is currently performing at the Maison de lamagique in Blois.
“As a child, I myself was fascinated by television shows where illusion starred with people like Garcimore and Gérard Majax. And then my grandmother Suzanne Masson, founder of the Movement for Children’s Villages, who had studied Fine Arts and was a puppeteer in her spare time, supported me in my attraction to the world of magic. She encouraged me to take artistic classes, particularly mime, to better bring the illusion to life. »
Initially, Sébastien Mossière turned to sociocultural studies with the idea of directing a structure where he could program artists but quickly, he approached a magicians agency which offered him to host close-up events of close-up magic.
“For ten years, I shot events like this until I met Arthur Jugnot, son of the actor Gérard Jugnot, himself an actor, passionate about illusion, director in particular of Magician everything is written where I played and which was programmed for a long time in many Parisian theaters. »
In residence for the first time at the Maison de lamagique in Blois, where he has already performed several times, Sébastien Mossière is happy to offer his seventh show entitled The incredible story of Sigismond Dubuffet.
“With four thirty-minute performances during the day, it is for me a real marathon and a great gymnastics which, in front of children, requires a lot of energy. But I like it! »
