Sologne, a paradise for the ultra-rich fond of private hunting trips in Sologne : this is the theme of the book by Jean-Baptiste Forray, journalist, deputy editor-in-chief at La Gazette des Communes, which is released this Thursday, October 17 in bookstores. The New Lords tell how major business leaders, sometimes heads of the CAC-40, have “distorted” this vast forest areastraddling the , the Cher and the Loir-et-Cher.

“Might as well walk around in a gulag”

“Martin Bouygues, the Seydoux brothers, the Bic brothers, the Wertheimer brothers who own Chanel… all these families have little by little colonized Sologne and some of them practice quite particular hunting, out of sight in these famous closed and fenced parks” says the author. Hunting parties that he describes as “grandiose” : “We sometimes talk about 300 wild boars ending up on the mat in the space of half a day”. And to quote François Cluzet, “who said when he came to shoot his film there The Buissonnière School : ‘I advise my friends not to come here, they might as well wander around in a gulag”.

These personalities come to Sologne by helicopter, and “leave without having set foot in the villages of Sologne” points to Jean-Baptiste Forray. “For them, Sologne is only a stopover between Saint-Barth and Courchevel. If tomorrow these famous fences are to fall, they will let Sologne fall like an old mistress.”

A situation which shocks many inhabitants of the region, which explains according to the journalist “the success in particular of the association of Friends of the Chemins de Sologne”whose mobilization, with several policies in the Region, enabled the adoption of the law i against the enclosure of Solognewhich must apply in 2027.
A law already contested: a priority question of constitutionality has been raised; the Constitutional Council must render its decision relating to this QPC this Friday, October 18.
