Spotify (finally) launches its audiobook service in Belgium

Since Monday, October 14, Spotify subscribers can benefit from a new feature offered by the streaming giant. Among the audio books available now, some gems including books by Philippe Boxho and Mélissa Da Costa.

While it was already possible to listen to music and podcasts, until now, Belgian users did not have the chance to take advantage of Spotify’s audiobook service. But the streaming platform has just remedied this oversight. Since October 14, thanks to a new feature available in four non-English speaking countries, namely Belgium, , the Netherlands and Luxembourg, it is possible to listen to audiobooks on your phone.

The virtual library consists of more than 200,000 audio books. Among these, and this is the big news, 15,000 are offered in French. For perfectly bilingual people or for those who would like to perfect their language learning, 15,000 audiobooks are also offered in Dutch.

The only downside is that this new service requires payment. Premium subscribers will be entitled to twelve hours of free listening, then the ten hours of audiobooks will cost them 9.99 euros. Freemium users, meaning those with a free account with advertisements, will also be able to benefit from this new functionality, but they will have to pay for their audiobooks à la carte.

Among the audio books available in French, let us quote “The cleaning lady”, by Freida McFadden, “La petite bonne”, by Bérénice Pichat, “Jour de resac”, by Maylis de Kerangal, “L’heure bleue”, by Paula Hawkins, “Stand up”, by Mélissa Da Costa, or “The dead have the floor”, by Philippe Boxho.

To access this new feature, simply go to the Spotify homepage, tap/click on “audiobooks”, and make your choice.
