20 years of celebrating Montreal children’s literature on a daily basis

The City of Montreal is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Libraries’ Children’s Book Prize which, over the last 19 years, has highlighted more than 75 finalist titles, covering various genres, such as fiction, novel and poetry. The Prize rewards the richness and diversity of Montreal children’s literature and recognizes the excellence of Montreal creation in the publishing sector for young people. The jury is made up of five youth librarians from the City of Montreal.

All year round, Montreal libraries offer a wide variety of genres in children’s literature, with sections dedicated entirely to young children. Several activities are also offered to amuse and engage young and old alike: learning about music, multi-sensory mornings, craft storytelling, movie-library, story time, etc. They can be found in the library activities calendar, updated throughout the year. The Contact, the Pleasure of and Livres dans la rue programs are also dedicated to young children and their families to encourage a taste for reading.
