Le Mans Prize – Saint-Exupéry

Dedicated to French-speaking novels devoted to travel (including interior), exploration and initiatory stories, this prize was awarded to Olivier Norek for his book “Les Guerriers de l’hiver” (Editions Michel Lafon), which recounts a little-known piece of history: 105 days of war at -51°C, on the occasion of the invasion of little Finland by the great Soviet Union on Christmas Eve 1939. “A masterpiece that ate up half my night”commented the honorary president of the jury, Daniel Pennac. No wonder this book is also shortlisted…
