Since 2019, every year, ritually, the municipality organizes a book fair which welcomes authors from Greater Geneva and France. The 2024 edition scheduled for October 12 and 13 will be even richer with the announced participation of 34 authors. Whether you’re passionate about novels, keen on thrillers or looking for captivating stories for children, there will be something for everyone! The Vents de Terre bookstore will be on site to sell books.
All these authors will be joined by a professional caricaturist, Sophie Barbier, who will be present throughout the weekend to recreate the portrait of visitors!
But Festy’Livres is not limited to author meetings since a multitude of free activities (on registration) will delight young and old. Adolescents will be able to discover the secrets of writing with the author from Pays de Gex, Maryssa Rachel, while 6-10 year olds will live a unique experience which will combine relaxation and magical stories with a tale around yoga and there will also be pop-up card workshops.
An exhibition on the history of video games
For adults, Arnaud Delon will invite the public to a reading aloud workshop in small groups. As part of the “First Pages” operation, little ones will be invited to listen to a kamishibai before leaving with the book. In addition to these activities, visitors will enjoy continuous activities run by library volunteers including the badge bar or the exhibition on the history of video games through the ages with a dedicated games corner.
Festy’Livres Cessy is on Saturday October 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday October 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Vidolet room in Cessy.
