An actor in an irregular situation in and under OQTF, Abou Sangare was nevertheless last night live on France 5 in “C à vous” explaining, very moved, that “this situation made him suffer a lot”. His request for authorization to stay in France has been refused three times by the French authorities, and yet, despite an OQTF he is still in France, and even on set, live on TV on France 5 last night.

Abou Sangare does not hide himself and he was a guest on “C à vous” on France 5. He has in fact played in a film, awarded at several festivals. It is The Story of Souleymane by Boris Lojkine, in theaters Wednesday October 9. The film won two prizes in the “Un certain regard” category at the Film Festival, that of the jury but also for best actor awarded to Abou Sangare.

As indicated by our colleagues from the regional daily Le Courrier Picard, the prefecture had already notified him of a third refusal of his request for regularization, weighed down by an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). According to daily information, these administrative problems result from the fact that Abou Sangaré returned to French territory without a student visa. The young actor also has no family in France.

To make his case heavier, the prefecture also accuses him of not providing any salary slips.

“Your story is an odyssey to come to France, where some hands are stretched out and many close. You are happy that this film sheds light on your daily life but also on that of many undocumented immigrants in France,” explains Elisabeth Lemoine.

Abou Sangare is then very moved while waiting for the presenter to tell her story. Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine then speaks again:

“Is it because you feel anger? From the injustice of still being in this situation today, you who learned to read and write in France, obtained diplomas, and were contacted by many companies?”

Response from the actor in an irregular situation:

“You see that I am crying because it is something that makes me suffer a lot even if I have been supported by certain associations.”
