Book of the month: At high speed, the biography of José Letartre

This month, it’s para-dressage rider José Letartre and his book At a fast pace which we highlight in our section.

The story of José Letarte is that of a rider full of ambitions, despite a difficult start to life in the slums of Caracas in Venezuela. He was born with agenesis in his legs and underwent several operations from the age of 16 months to have his limbs fitted. He was then adopted in by the Letartre family who put him on horseback. Since his first equine love, Darling, he tells us his story, he who today alternates between show jumping and para-dressage competitions. José Letartre means five participations in the Paralympic Games, five in the European Championships, and above all an intense life to discover without further delay.

At a fast paceby José Letartre, written with Denis Soula, Les Presses de la Cité, 152 p., €19.
