With 65,000 visitors last year, Fait Lire!, in (), promises a week of signings, meetings and exhibitions. Enough to give pride of place to literature in all its forms, from Monday September 30 to Sunday October 6, 2024. A flagship event of the literary season, the book fair, which will be held on Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, invites you to him 180 authors.

During the weekend, other headliners are expected: Alice Zeniter, Yann Queffélec (Prix Goncourt 1985), journalist Annick Cojean (Prix Albert Londres 1996), Mélissa Da Costa, Cathy Cassidy (author of the children’s series The chocolate girls), Christian Niemiec, Gilles Legardinier…

A “book street”

The book fair is held at Place de la République with children’s, comics and manga authors and Place des Jacobins for authors of general literature. But the party continues in the “book street” with shows and strolls. Head to the city center in the streets of Bolton and rue Marchande.

Square des Ursulines, near the Tourist Office, is an old book fair that will take place on the weekend of October 6 and 7. Place Saint-Nicolas is the return of the children’s book fair all day Saturday.

Women of science

This year’s theme “Women, science and inspiration” gives way to history, including a special opening evening, this Monday, September 30 at 8:30 p.m. at the Paul-Scarron theater, hosted by the writer Daniel Pennac. The next day, Tuesday, there is a show on the life of Marie Curie: “Radium Mania” which is offered at 8:30 p.m., still at the Paul-Scarron theater.

At the Louis-Aragon media library, you will find the exhibition “In the shadow of science, women of the stars” from 1is to October 5. Finally, Anita Conti, oceanographer of the 20the century will be at the heart of a conference given by the illustrator Catel (guest of honor of the festival) on Wednesday 4 at 8:30 p.m. at the Paul-Scarron theater.

An air of street art

When some dedicate pages, others paint on the walls. On Saturday, street artists Mojito Fraise take over the Plein Champ wall in the courtyard of the Tessé museum, for a collective performance. From October 2 to 10, rue des Fallotiers (near the Bulle bookstore) is also transformed into a giant four-handed fresco with the participation of comic book author François Schuiten and street artist Wen2.
