The 13th town book fair organized by Martine Garnier, culture assistant, will take place on Sunday October 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bergerie. This year’s theme will be: “Marcel Pagnol, 50 years later”. The guest of honor to illustrate this day will be his grandson, Nicolas Pagnol. A conference-debate is organized on Saturday October 5, at 6 p.m., at the Maison des associations.

This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the illustrious writer and academician. In addition to writing, he was a French playwright, filmmaker and producer. He is the author of books known to all, such as The Glory of my Father, Marius, Fanny, My mother’s castle or even Jean de Florette.

Around forty authors

Nicolas Pagnol is the grandson of the writer and Jacqueline Bouvier. Since 2004, he has become the manager of his grandfather’s work. He is also president of Marcel Pagnol communication (MPF) and also manages two companies, Éditions de la Treille which republishes the author’s texts and the Compagnie Méditerranéenne de films created by the filmmaker. He is also the author of books such as Marcel Pagnol, the author of a life et Marcel Pagnol, cinema notebooks.

He will present works dedicated to his grandfather as well as works that have been adapted into comic strips.

Nicolas Pagnol will be accompanied by Floryse Grimaud, woman of letters, who has made a name for herself in publishing. In 2000, she created the Marcel-Pagnol literary prize which rewards each year a work retracing childhood memories. The Marcel-Pagnol prize is awarded each year with particular attention paid to the quality of style and excellence of the French language.

In 2015, Floryse Grimaud managed the festivities around the 120th anniversary of the Aubagnais academician. Nicolas Pagnol and Floryse Grimaud will host a conference-debate, Saturday October 5, at 6 p.m., in room 5 of the Maison des associations, at Blachère Park.

Like every year, the show will present around forty authors, regulars and new, representing all types of literature, historical and detective novels, fantasy, youth and children’s, biography, etc.

Bouillarguais authors will also be present with their opus, Olivier Pince and his collection of poetry entitled: Vertigo. Dino Bertolo with his first collection of poems and Sébastien Lamy, Confessions of a wounded man (war testimony).
