It is a carefully considered decision which is the result of a long process.he explains. I practiced this job as a news presenter with passion. But I reached a point where I felt that this passion could start to fade. Like a boxer, I didn’t want to do the fight that was too much, the news too many. We’ve been discussing it with the team for a while. I made this decision knowing full well that I wasn’t going to go back on it.

We felt you were very moved on set following this announcement…

There was a lot of emotion and that’s normal when you leave a place where you worked for 27 years. I received a lot of messages, more than 100 I think, which I will be happy to answer this weekend.

Are you dreading your last news broadcast?

No, not at all. My decision is made. Now I’m moving forward. The words of my farewell speech are already in my head. All that’s left is to put them to music.

Will you still have a foot in the RTBF news service?

No, but I will continue to write.

Do you have a say in the journalist who will succeed you in presenting the 19 h 30 ?

Not at all. I am not one of those who will choose my successor. I think that is not my role.

Many journalists, especially former news presenters, have turned to politics after their careers as journalists. Is this something you wanted to do?

I will remain a journalist no matter what. I am interested in politics but as a political journalist, not as a politician.

Soon to present a new cultural program

François de Brigode is leaving the position of news presenter but not RTBF. The journalist announced this Thursday evening that he will soon be presenting a cultural prime-time show broadcast every Friday evening on La Une. A new project that is in line with what François de Brigode already does on the radio. Recently, he has taken part in several cultural events such as Time line on Classic 21 and Crossed Views on Musiq 3 Jazz.
