A week later, on September 29, 2023, Alexis Beka Beka threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the Magnan viaduct. Recovered safe and sound, the 23-year-old has since tried to rebuild his life in Caen, surrounded by his loved ones and far from football, which he would now like to return to.

In L’Equipe this Thursday, Guillaume Travers, the physical trainer who accompanies him, confided that a return to the field was becoming “possible” in the long term for the man who competed in the Olympic Games in 2021. “He is close to being able to resume collective training,” estimated Travers, who measures the distance traveled.
Alexis Beka Beka recently completed a two-week training course at Clairefontaine, where he met up with a few familiar faces. Having been reconnected to the outside world for several months, Beka Beka was also able to see the many messages of support for him. “He has this desire, stronger than anything, to get revenge on what he experienced, without putting pressure on himself about the timing of his return,” Travers noted.
“As everyone knows, I’ve been through some tough times. The club has always been there, without ever rushing me,” said Alexis Beka Beka in mid-August, as he said goodbye to OGC Nice. “I’m still on my way up, I have my own challenges, in my personal life and in my professional career.”
