After the 2024 Olympics, the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) dissolved the professional team created especially for the competition. But several members of the French team are working to create a new team, which would be the first outside the federal fold, hoping to ride the Olympic silver medal. The project, led by Hugo Suhard and Basket Amplitude, is growing but is encountering a complicated economic situation.
This is what we call a harsh return to reality. On August 5, the French men's 3×3 basketball team won a historic Olympic silver medal at home, carried by the madness of the Place de la Concorde. An enchanted summer that “Team Paris” continued on the professional circuit, in the World Tour, to achieve another second place in the final on November 24.
But this winter, it is not against the surgical shots of the Dutchman Worthy de Jong, who twice deprived them of a title, that the members of the team are fighting, but against the pure and simple disappearance of the team: the FFBB, which built it and financed it 100% with a view to the 2024 Games, announced that the structure would disappear as planned this winter.
