The “Mascotte” is considered one of the oldest clubs in Switzerland. The location was officially opened over 100 years ago, well -known names such as Aracade Fire, The XX, Florence & the Machine, the dead trousers or Pete Doherty occurred there.
Since 2004, Patrick Spiller, Lukas Meier, Marc Schickstorfer, Patrick Grau and Alfonso Siegrist have led the club on the Zurich Bellevue. But that is the end. Because the “mascotte” soon closes its doors.

As the club announces in an Instagram post, those responsible will expire the rental agreement at the end of 2025. From June 12th to June 14th the operators plan another final weekend, and by the end of 2025 the club will then be preserved as an event location for private or business occasions. Then it’s definitely over.
What happens after 2025 is still unclear. The city of Zurich is planning a larger renovation of the listed corso house, so the “Mascotte” should have taken at least two years of break.
«We look back with pride, gratitude and melancholy at over 800 concerts, thousands of parties and countless exciting experiences. For many, the “Mascotte” was a second home … too, ”it says in the Instagram post.
-Difficult years since corona
In an interview with the “Tagesanzeiger”, Alfonso Siegrist explains this: “The past year was not satisfactory. The boys’ outstanding behavior has changed significantly since Corona. Live healthier – no longer celebrate. »
According to Siegrist, the income at the bar has decreased by up to 30 percent for around a year, and the outstanding range in the city has also changed: “Zurich literally explodes with outdoor events and pop-ups.”
The location in the Corsohaus on Zürcher Bellevue has also become a disadvantage in recent years. «There used to be other clubs next door, like the purple. The night bus held in front of the “Mascotte”. Today, the youthful walk -in is missing at a late hour, »says Siegrist.

Club death in Zurich
The “Mascotte” is the same way as the “Future” club recently at Langstrasse. The “Zukki” also closed its doors in March because today’s youth changed their outstanding behavior.
The Zurich club scene has been struggling with financial problems for a long time. Increasing costs, less alcohol consumption and dwindling revenue increase the companies.
It is therefore quite possible that further party institutions will follow after the “Mascotte” and the “future”.
