Discuss nuisance related to air traffic during a plane trip? The pill goes wrong. The annual meeting of mayors organized by the Association of Geneva municipalities is again debated. In 2019, the three -day getaway at Montenegro had made the Greens uncomfortable due to the means of transport and the budget deemed excessive. At the time, elected officials had however responded. Six years later, given the climate emergency, this is no longer the case. Scheduled in Copenhagen this weekend, the trip, for which an airplane will be chartered, will be made in the absence of two thirds of the elected officials. They decided to boycott the stay, reports the “Tribune de Genève”.
In addition, the three magistrates of Vernier – Martin Staub (PS), Gian -Reto Agramunt (PLR) and Mathias Buschbeck (green) – have chosen to organize an alternative trip by train, despite the 37 hours of round trip. They will be accompanied by two outdoor elected officials, Karen Guinand, deputy mayor of Genthod and Anne-Catherine Hurny, administrative advisor in Bellevue. The common point between these five travelers: they all come from municipalities with airport nuisances.
