As part of the implementation of the National Education Strategy and the Emergency Program for the Resorption of Provisional Shelters (PURAP), the Directorate of School Constructions (DCS) of the Ministry of National Education signed this Monday a major memorandum of understanding with the Directorate of Engineering and Army Infrastructure (Dirgen).
This signature marks a decisive turning point in the policy of improving school infrastructure, translating the government’s firm will to build an inclusive, modern and resilient Senegalese school, in accordance with the orientations of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. Represented by its director, Pope Abdou Dia, the Directorate of School Constructions (DCS) is committed, through this agreement, to collaborate closely with the armed forces for the design, construction, renovation and maintenance of school infrastructure across the country. Opposite, Colonel Papa Adiouma Ngom, director of engineering and armies infrastructure, praised innovative and results innovative cooperation.
“This partnership testifies in a new way of doing things, based on the pooling of state skills to effectively respond to the challenges of the Senegalese school,” said Dia at the ceremony. He underlined the expertise, discipline and the capacity for intervention of military engineering as major assets to meet the challenges of PURAP, one of the priority sites of the ministry.
The protocol provides for a structured framework for the execution of projects, with joint monitoring, reporting and quality control mechanisms. It also sets the responsibilities of each party, while providing for great transparency in resource management and a strong involvement of local communities.
This interinstitutional partnership illustrates a broader ambition: to make the Senegalese school a pillar of the country’s structural transformation, in the spirit of the Senegal 2050 repository.
