A portrait that is talking. “On the occasion of the second anniversary of the coronation of their majesties, two portraits, commanded for the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, were unveiled in the central room of the National Gallery”can we read under an Instagram publication of The Royal Family account.
This publication includes a video, showing the king and the queen to discover their portraits. These will be part of the royal collection and have been painted by two different artists, selected by the King and the Queen. “The king has chosen to be painted by Peter Kuhfeld and the Queen chose Paul S. Benney. The two artists are already known to their majesties, having already contributed to other royal commissions.” Portraits will be visible to the public in the central room of the National Gallery, of which the king is the Royal Patron, until June 5. “They will then move to their permanent home in the Throne hall in Buckingham Palace. They can be seen during the summer opening of state rooms (July 10 – September 28, 2025).”
